The Past 6 Months of the Year are a Blur

WOW where did the last 6 months of 2012 go? It just doesn't seem quite fair that the older I get the faster the time seems to fly. I had all the intentions in the world to keep up with this blog but then I got totally swamped and bombarded with a little thing called life. So here are a few of the high and low lights of the last 6 months.

JANUARY: We had a wonderful evening ringing in the new year with friends. Our eyes were wide open and we were in the up right position which is very challenging these days. Our kids can and often do stay up well past midnight but for those of us that at that point are barely functioning on fumes of energy it is no easy task. I also started a new semester at school and got myself 2 classes closer to a degree. :)The boys and daddy kept busy with a super fun season of basketball.

FEBRUARY: We had our one and only snow fall of the year and it was a fairly decent amount. Enough anyway for the kids to dig their sleds and snow gear out of the bottom of the storage closet. The snow lingered for a good few hours before it become a thing of the past.

I also got to celebrate Carnevale in Venice this year GIRL STYLE! Two of my girlfriends and myself headed over to the huge party and had a fabulous time. The night life was a lot of fun and full of some very interesting charcters to say the least. It was a day that will definitely be stored in the book of unforgettable moments with friends in Italy.

We ended this month with a birthday celebration for Kaleb who turned 12. Next year he will be entering his teens.....YIKES. We allowed him to have several boys over for the night, but chalking it up to a lesson learned we will NEVER do that again! :)

MARCH: This was a pretty low key month besides the fact that I started my training for a half marathon. Yeah I was pretty sure I was nuts in one for even thinking about it and two for actually doing it. I started the first of the month running 2 and 3 miles every other day and having a long run on the weekend. First of all I have NEVER EVER been a runner and in fact I was pretty good at coming up with illnesses in middle school on our mile run days. LOL Clark had got me started on running in Missouri and I was up to running 3 and 4 miles but after moving here I had stopped running. It wasn't so much a bucket list item but a goal I wanted to challenge myself to accomplish and to be able to say I ran a half marathon in Italy of all places. So March was the start of my long and grueling 12 week training. The boys also started another baseball season, one which was full of rainouts and rescheduled games and practices. However it was fun being in the stands again....I love cheering on my boys.

APRIL: Spring break!! YIPPEE!! We always look forward to each and every chance we have to get out and see more of Europe. This year we kind of had a low key spring break not wanting to make a huge trip or spend lots of money knowing we were going to have a busy summer. So we took three days and went to Germany to take the boys to Legoland.

MAY: The first two weeks of the month were my last two weeks of training. I was up to running 11 miles. It was no easy task at all but I was very proud of myself for keeping with it and having the determination to actually do the half marathon. The marathon was on the 12th and it was one that was ran at night. Let me tell you that I am a morning workout person so I did all of my training runs in the mornings.....a major downfall for me on race day (night). By the time the race started a little after 7:00 pm my body was getting ready for shut down mode. LOL It certainly wasn't prepared for the 13.1 miles I was about to run. Needless to say I did it and without stopping but I was a little disappointed in my time. I know I could have done better especially had it been in the morning. However I did love the view of this run and the night setting was awesome. There were some serious running machines out there, and I had no idea what I was putting myself up against. The first place runner finished in 1 hour and 3 minutes. My official finishing time was 2:14:51. After I finished I vowed I wasn't going to do it again but now I am wanting to sign up for one in November to see if I can get under the 2 hour mark. HAHA

May also marked the celebration of Clark and I's 13th wedding anniversary (17 years of being together). We also clebrated Luke turning the big 5.....which means yep he will be starting "BIG SCHOOL" in the fall.

Whew so that is the last 5 months in a nut shell. I will be posting about my mothers Italian vacation next and our BIG trip of the summer.
